Wedding FAQs

Questions?

No problem! If you can’t find the answers here, get in touch!

+ Do you do group shots?

Yes I do! I shoot most of the day candidly to capture you and your guests naturally, but your granny will still have a photo for the mantelpiece! Groups can easily take over a day though, so it’s best to try and keep the number fairly low if you can. I can help you figure out how to manage that if you want.

+ What about elopements?

As someone that loves sneaking away with his own partner for some quiet time in the Highlands and Islands, I can totally see the attraction in slinking off to get married without the fuss of a big wedding! There’s something beautifully intimate, and really quite free about it.

+ Are you insured?

Absolutely. You should be too.

+ Do you work alone?

Most of the time, aye. If it’s a particularly big wedding, or there’s lots going on all at once, then I have a few folks that can come and shoot alongside me. We can talk about that if you think it’s something you’d be interested in.

+ Aren’t you a landscape photographer?

I am! I love it. I also love shooting weddings, and don't see why I can't have my cake and eat it too.

+ How do I get my photographs?

I’ll send you a USB with the full resolution images once I’ve edited them. That normally takes about 4 to 6 weeks, depending on how busy I am (I’d rather do it right than rush it!). I also upload an online gallery that you can share with guests, and order prints from. Of course, you’ve got all the files and can arrange your own prints if you want!

+ Do you do albums?

Yes I do! They are a thing of beauty, too. I don’t include it in my standard package, but once you’ve received your photos we can chat about putting an album together.

Testimonials

Dougie was our wedding photographer and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results. We got the balance of posed group photos, loads of us together and photos where no one even noticed Dougie was taking them! Perfect! We got married in March and managed to get a decent, sunny day, which was wonderful as far as the photos went. Not to be rude to Dougie but at times we forgot he was there (sorry). He wasn’t obtrusive and we really liked and appreciated that. We were so happy that Dougie was a part of our special day and would definetly recommend him to others. Thanks again.

Living so far from our family and friends, Richard and I wanted our wedding to be a fun day we could share with everyone. After our first meeting with Dougie it was clear he really appreciated what we were trying to do. On the day he was Brilliant! His friendly banter and calm assertiveness kept the day flowing effortlessly. We are delighted with the photos! Dougie has managed to capture so many of our guests being themselves, the photos are a joy for us to treasure. Thanks Dougie!

This May Dougie came to Perthshire to photograph our wedding. We knew as soon as we saw some of Dougie’s photographs that he would do an excellent job in capturing the moments that are most important to us. Even though I know Dougie for some time and have seen him in action photographing a friends wedding, I was still surprised to experience him in his professional element: he was incredibly considerate and gentle when it came to taking portraits, calm and relaxed when we were nervous, clear with his directions when he saw a picture that needed taking and seamlessly blended into the background a second later. The results are stunning, beautiful and (for us) emotional Photographs that we will cherish the rest of our lives. Thank you so much Dougie!

Dougie recently took the photos for my wedding on board the Glenlee Tallship in Glasgow. Sometimes it is hard asking a friend to do things like this because they feel pressure and you obviously want a good job done. Well.... I always knew Dougies was a wonderful photographer but these photos have surpassed any expectations I might have had - Scott and I were blown away when we received them. Dougie has a certain way of managing to ‘capture the moment’ with minimum intrusion. I just love the way the photos are all so natural with no forced poses etc. The photos are so atmospheric and I’d 100% recommend anybody to use Dougie as their wedding photographer - he not only takes wonderful pictures but builds up such a nice rapport with people - many of our guests commented on this - a real asset as a wedding photographer :)
